I am Director of the Information Systems Program and a Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in theĀ H. John Heinz III College and Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. My expertise spans software development, teaching professional leadership to technical students, and leveraging information and communication technology for community and international development. The Information Systems Program, a top-ranked undergraduate program, provides students with an interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates human-centered software development, data and social sciences, and professional leadership, built upon a strong liberal education foundation. This comprehensive approach prepares students to design, implement, and manage information systems in real-world contexts. Since 2004, I have led the Technology Consulting in the Global Community program, which connects students with businesses, government ministries, and NGOs in developing communities to enhance their strategic use of technology. Before earning my Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, I completed a BS in Computer Science from Penn State, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, and spent five years as a systems software developer at Bell Laboratories.
